The winners of the Turkish Super Lig are entered into UEFA Champions League, with the runners-up entered into the qualifying stages. The teams finishing in 3rd to 5th are entered into the UEFA Europa League. The teams finishing in the bottom three places at the end of the season are relegated to the Turkish First League.

Recent history:
The current champions are Fenerbahce, who won the 2010-11 Turkish Super Lig title, only by a difference of 4 goals, ahead of Trabzonspor in 2nd place.
Fenerbahce are also the most successful club in the competition, with 18 titles since it became the Turkish Super Lig in 1959.
