Competition format:

The teams of the Mexican Primera Division can qualify for three international club tournaments, the CONCACAF Champions League, the North American SuperLiga and the Copa Libertadores. At the end of the season, after the Apertura and Clausura competitions, one team is relegated to the Mexican Liga de Ascenso.

America, Atlante, Atlas, Cruz Azul, Estudiantes Tecos, Guadalajara, Jaguares, Morelia, Monterrey, Necaxa, Pachuca, Puebla, Queretaro, San Luis, Santos Laguna, Toluca, UANL Tigres and UNAM Pumas.

Recent history:

The current champions of the 2011 Mexican Primera Division Clausura title are UNAM Pumas, who defeated Morelia 3-2 on aggregate in the final.

Guadalajara are the most successful club in the Mexican Primera Division, with 11 titles since the league was founded in 1943.
