The winners and runners-up of the German Bundesliga will be entered into the UEFA Champions League, with the team finishing in 3rd place entering the competition at the qualifying stage. The 4th and 5th placed teams are entered into the UEFA Europa League. The teams finishing in the bottom two places will be relegated to German 2. Bundesliga, with the team finishing 3rd from bottom contesting a play-out with the team finising 3rd in German 2. Bundesliga.
