Competition format:
The winners and runners-up of French Ligue 1 will be entered into the UEFA Champions League, with the team finishing in 3rd place entering the competition at the qualifying stage. The 4th placed team is entered into the UEFA Europa League. The teams finishing in the bottom three places will be relegated to French Ligue 2.
